Christmount COVID-19 Information and Updates

Please read carefully and come back often as details continue to emerge. We will update our website as plans develop and new information becomes available.

We are planning for on-site events and programs.  We will be following our state’s guidelines for mitigation, and we are working to minimize risk while maintaining what’s essential to your experience at Christmount.

Some modifications for 2021 include:

  • Limiting the capacities of our indoor gatherings
  • Limiting the length of some gatherings
  • Adding a virtual component when appropriate
  • Staggering meal schedules to allow for less people with more distancing in the Dining Halls
  • Maximizing our use of outdoor spaces

For now, you might want to prepare by thinking about the following:

  • In-Person attendance at Christmount-sponsored programs will require either proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test result up to 10 days prior to your arrival
  • We strongly encourage you to engage in low-risk behavior for 10 days prior to your arrival
  • We strongly encourage you to engage in limited travel for 10 days prior to your arrival
  • We strongly encourage you to adhere to state and county guidelines while onsite at Christmount This may include mask-wearing, social distancing, and frequent hand-washing.
  • We may require daily Covid-screening while at Christmount (temperature check, routine health questions)

Current guidelines in North Carolina include:

In Buncombe County:

  • You can learn more here.

At Christmount:

  • The Dining Halls are following the restrictions set out by North Carolina and Buncombe County. We encourage you to limit the number of people around the indoor tables, and / or to consider outdoor dining options when feasible.
  • We encourage masks to be worn indoors for both vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals.
  • We encourage social-distancing and lots of hand-washing while you are here.
  • Housekeeping will not be offering towel-exchange. If you are staying in the Guest House and need a fresh towel (or anything else for your room), please come to the front office to make your request.

Our office staff, programming staff, and maintenance teams are all working hard to imagine what it means to operate as fully and as safely as possible in the midst of these challenging times.  As we continue to dream and plan, we are grateful for your support, your input, and your questions.
