"A Place for All"
The Architectural Vision: A New Standard for Inclusive Design
The Residential Lodge is the physical manifestation of our commitment to radical inclusion. It is designed to be a space where "belonging" is built into the very walls.
By replacing the outdated Davis Hall with a modern, fully accessible facility, Christmount sets a new standard for inclusive architectural design in a retreat setting.
Technical Specifications and Impact
- Capacity: Accommodations for up to 30 guests in a year-round, climate-controlled environment.
- Accessibility: Full ADA compliance, ensuring that every guest, regardless of mobility or sensory needs, can navigate the space with independence and ease.
- Sustainability: Elimination of the prohibitive maintenance costs and energy inefficiencies that plagued the former structure.
The Challenge
We are acutely aware of the physical needs of our campus. We have identified several core areas that will accomplish the upgrades needed to allow us to offer year-round programming. We believe in the people who love Christmount, and feel strongly that now is the time to act. In replacing outdated buildings, we will expand programming as well as event revenue to ensure Christmount’s sustainability while broadening our outreach to the communities we serve.
The overnight participants in our adapted camping programs currently stay in the Group Lodge which offers bunkbeds in four bedrooms. The new Residential Lodge will have some multi-person rooms as well as some individual rooms, making it more conducive to meeting the varying needs of our campers. The new Residential Lodge will also be ADA compliant and will include amenities such as LED (not fluorescent) lighting.
The objective for this campaign:
Construction of a new Residential Lodge:
$3,200,000 - replacing the old building (Davis Hall) with a new residential lodge will greatly enhance our Adapted Programs (Camp Lakey Gap for participants with autism, and Sunshine Retreats for adults with intellectual disabilities), as well as accommodate groups year-round.
