"Building Community for All"

Christmount is in great need of replacing several failing structures to ensure that we continue to be a destination for all. The cost of upkeep and maintenance of old buildings grows each year, and to remain sustainable would require elaborate renovations to bring the buildings up to modern standards.

It has been determined that replacement of these structures is a necessity in meeting our

objective of supporting year-round programming and the anticipated growth in attendees

and retreat rentals in the coming years.

The Challenge

We are very aware of the physical needs of our campus. Many of our facilities are old.  But most of all, the majority of our facilities are not truly year-round. We have been successful in building some new spaces, but it is time to take a comprehensive jump into the future. This requires everyone in our Christmount orbit to pull together and take on a massive program to upgrade our facilities.

Over time, we have identified several core needs that will accomplish the upgrades needed to allow us to offer year-round programming. We have accomplished a successful Feasibility Study to assess our needs and our capacity to do a robust capital campaign. We believe in the people who love Christmount, and feel strongly that now is the time to act.

In replacing these outdated buildings, we will be able to expand programming as well as event revenue to ensure Christmount’s sustainability while broadening our outreach to the communities we serve.

Phase One of the Campaign will directly impact our participants of Camp Lakey Gap - participants with autism - and Sunshine Retreats - for adults with intellectual disabilities.

The overnight participants in these adapted camping programs currently stay in the Group Lodge which offers bunkbeds in four bedrooms.  The new Residential Lodge will have some multi-person rooms as well as some individual rooms, making it more conducive to meet the varying needs of our campers.

The new Residential Lodge will also be ADA compliant and will include amenities such as LED (not fluorescent) lighting.
