Retained Life Estate donation or Life Tenancy Gift

A retained life estate allows a donor to irrevocably give their home to a charity of their choosing and in return they retain the right to live in that home for either the rest of their life, a set term of years, or a combination of both. The donor also receives a charitable tax-deduction on the donation. The property donated can be farmland with or without buildings, a primary residence, or a secondary residence such as a vacation home.
