Join others who love church music as together we grow spiritually through the ministry of music. This year's music is selected for small to medium size choirs. Learn singing and ringing techniques to enhance your skills. The event culminates with leading worship through music at First Christian Church, Black Mountain. Whether you're an experienced musician or a Sunday singer, there's a place in the choir for you!

William Garner  

William earned his B.S.Ed. in music and his M.M.E. from Western Carolina University where he was also the Graduate Assistant to the University’s School of Music. He has served as the Director of Music in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) since 1994.


In 1998 William became the Director of Music at First Christian of Decatur (Disciples of Christ) where he directs the Chancel Choir and Handbell Ensemble. In addition to the Music Ministry he has served as a Deacon and currently an Elder.


As well as serving the church, he teaches for the Charles R. Drew Charter School in Atlanta, GA (Designated number 1 Charter School in Georgia).


His Music Ensembles have consistently scored an Excellent or Superior rating at all Georgia Music Educators Association evaluations. His Students have performed with the National Honors Chorus at Carnegie Hall and with the Grammy Award winning Atlanta Boy Choir, Darius Rucker, David Benoit and the Atlanta Opera.

Kathleen Westbrook - Kathy began playing the organ at age 14. She graduated from Ithaca College in New York State with a Bachelor of Music degree in music education and with organ as her major instrument. She received her Master of Education degree from Brenau Universtiy. Kathy has been organist at the First Christian Church of Decatur since the fall of 1975. She has also served as Children’s Choir director, Sunday School teacher and Chi Rho and CYF leader. Kathy taught elementary music in the Dekalb County, Georgia school system for many years.
