Coronavirus Statement of Reassurance

The Coronavirus (Covid-19) is a serious issue in our global and local communities today. We want our groups and visitors to know that we are taking steps to reassure the general public that Christmount has implemented a plan inclusive of Best Practices to deal with this and / or any other pandemic health crisis. We have CDC guidelines and a copy of our policy available at the Front Desk should anyone ask. We will also encourage all groups to carry on as normally as possible, exercising their own caution, adhering to their own policies and best-practices, and taking comfort in knowing that Christmount is taking proactive measures towards the prevention and / or spread of this and any other virus. All this is to say: we are monitoring the situations closely and doing our best to be proactive in the face of crises, while maintaining a calming and positive presence in the midst of fear driven by endless cycles of mixed messages from media outlets.

Christmount Best Practices / Guidelines for Responding to Covid-19 (Coronavirus)

The health, safety and well-being of our community, on and off Christmount’s property, is our highest priority and responsibility.

Prevention:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands

  • Stay home when you are sick

  • Cover your cough and your sneeze with a tissue; discard tissue after single use

  • Clean and disinfect frequently-touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.

  • Christmount employees will routinely clean all frequently-touched surfaces in the workplace, such as workstations, countertops, doorknobs, bathrooms, and all lodging and meeting facilities.

Policies and Procedures:

We are actively tracking updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. State Department and the North Carolina Division of Public Health. Additionally, Christmount operates under the following protocol and procedures:

  • Christmount Operations Director, Mark Norton, holds a current certificate from FEMA / Emergency Management Institute “Introduction to Continuity of Operations Planning for Pandemic Influenzas”

  • Dishes are scrubbed, washed, and then sanitized after every use

  • Towels and linens are washed in hot water with bleach and / or disinfectant detergent

  • Rooms are cleaned thoroughly before, during, and after each group

  • Public restrooms are cleaned daily

  • Christmount water supply system is checked, monitored, and inspected daily

  • Follow Interim Guidance for US Institutions of Higher Education on working with state and local health officials to isolate ill persons and provide temporary housing as needed.

  • In areas where ill persons are being housed in isolation, we will follow the Interim Guidance for Environmental Cleaning and Disinfection for US Households with Suspected or Confirmed Coronavirus Disease 2019. This includes focusing on cleaning and disinfecting common areas where staff / others providing services may come into contact with ill persons, but reducing cleaning and disinfection of bedrooms / bathrooms used by ill person to “as needed.”

  • Further policies and procedures are followed as updated per CDC Coronavirus Disease 2019 guidelines
