Mountain Camp is an opportunity for young campers to spend a week in the woods, living in tents without having to backpack or do their own cooking. Campers live in the Christmount wilderness area while taking most of their meals at the camp Dining Hall, except for pack-out lunches when they hike or the one night they cook out. It is not necessary for campers to own lots of equipment, since Christmount owns tents and other camping supplies.

Activities include:
Daily hikes both at Christmount & in the nearby mountains Crafts Devotional time in the morning & evening
Group-building games and activities Swimming
Learning about nature (the names of many plants & trees, creek walking, and safety in the woods) Recreation

What to Bring:
Comfortable clothing Swim suit Hiking boots and/or sneakers
Personal hygiene items Towels Toiletries (toothbrush/paste, hair brush/comb, soap, shampoo, deodorant)
Light jacket or sweatshirt Shower shoes Pillow & sleeping bag
Insect repellent Flashlight Small notebook and pen
Raincoat Lots of socks

Christmount will provide the tents. We also have a few sleeping bags, but you need to call and ask about these ahead of time. PLEASE make sure that your camper brings lots of socks and some shoes that will be good for walking. Sneakers are fine, but without socks, the campers can develop blisters. They MAY NOT hike in sandals or flip flops! Parents/guardians: Please check on your child’s packing to make sure all of the items listed above are present! If you need some of the items, please contact us to see if we can provide them.

Do not bring: firearms, fireworks, illegal drugs, alcohol, knives, jewelry, jam boxes, or anything of value that you would not want stolen or lost.

Camp begins: Monday, 1:00 P.M.  Sorry, we cannot take anyone before that time.
Camp ends:
Saturday, 10:00 A.M. Please have someone at Christmount to pick up your camper at that time.

Mountain Camp is a very active camp. Campers need to be able to walk and enjoy hiking. They do not spend time inside or watching movies. The camp is designed to be lots of fun, but your camper needs to understand that it is an outdoor camp! Campers also need to understand that they will be in the woods and will be hiking every day! Parents/guardians are expected to let their children know what kind of camp this is so that the camper doesn’t say, "If I knew we were going to do all this hiking I wouldn’t have come!"

To register: Parents/guardians must fill out a Christmount camp application. Please read all health information carefully. If information on shots and insurance is not filled in completely and phone contacts are not complete, we will not consider a camper fully registered for camp!!!

Christmount camps are open to all, regardless of race, nationality, and religion, in accordance with Christian values and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The only restrictions are those pertaining to age or to the physical requirements of a particular camp.

First Aid: Christmount Camp Staff is certified by the Red Cross in First Aid and CPR. They are trained to care for campers in appropriate and sensitive ways.
