The Christmount Columbarium - Final Phase
Christmount’s
Columbarium is a repository for cremated remains. It is located on the corner of
Holly Road and Magnolia Road across from Watters Garden. The first phase of the
Columbarium was constructed in 2001 and all of its 56 niches were reserved by
the end of 2003. The original plan called for an additional 56 niches to be
constructed when the need arose.
Responding to the overwhelming response and the frequent inquires over the past
few years concerning the construction of the addition, Christmount made the
decision to move forward with the Final Phase. This addition to the Columbarium
is to be of the same dimensions and standards as the original Columbarium and
will also contain 56 niches. The construction materials will be identical to
those used in the existing structure. The location of the Final Phase will blend
into the landscape and complement the existing structure. Construction is
planned for late summer or early fall of 2007 after the busy camping season.
Like the current Columbarium each niche will accommodate the placement of two
urns. Each niche has a marble cover that is removed for the placement of urns.
Niches are permanently sealed once filled with up to two urns.
Up to two 2” x 8” bronze name/date plates will be attached to the marble niche
cover. Each plate will accommodate the name on the first line and birth and
death dates on the second line. Christmount will engrave the name/date plates to
insure a uniform style.
Niche size: 8” x 8” x 26” deep
Max. urn size: 7 3/4” x 7 3/4” x 13”
Marble cover: 12” x 12”
Perpetual
Care
A Perpetual Care Fund has been established from income in excess of construction
costs to maintain the columbarium in perpetuity. These funds are invested with
only earned income used for maintenance and renovations to the columbarium.
Approval of the Christmount Board of Directors is necessary for the use of
additional funds from the Perpetual Care Fund. Christmount considers the
Columbarium a ministry and receives no profit from the sale of niches or fees.
